The Jackson Area Chapter is currently seeking applicants for the position of:

Emergency Services Director

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1.  Recognize, understand and fully support all Chapter Performance Standards.

2. Develop and deliver Community Disaster Education programs and information within the jurisdiction of the chapter and reach the requirements set in Standard Performance.

3. Develop and coordinate DSHR members and maintenance of DSHR database system.

4. Recruit and coordinate volunteers to support the chapter. Provide training and retention of volunteers and maintenance of volunteer human resource records.

5. Coordinate and assist the Disaster Action Teams.

6. Ensure disaster readiness.

7. Develop and maintain shelter and merchant agreements as necessary to provide necessary supplies and shelters during disasters.

8. Develop and maintain effective community relations with private and governmental agencies, emergency response departments and civic organizations associated as required.

9. Develop and maintain all records and statistical information as required or requested by chapter manager.

10. Achieve positive client outcome requirements as indicated in Standard Performance Indicator program.

11.  Other duties as may be deemed by chapter management.

 

Necessary Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of American Red Cross organization, history, policies and services.

  • Possess outstanding public relations skills and be totally committed to client satisfaction.

  • To ensure the success of chapter performance standard requirements overall, this position requires energy, organizational, planning and technical skills.

  • Must be a self-starter and demonstrate initiative and resourcefulness.

  • Must be able to maintain initiative through personal development.

  • Must be dedicated and work well with the diverse community in delivery of programs and services.

  • Be flexible to face multiple and shifting priorities in the face of ever changing situations and work well under great pressure.

  • Must accept directions and authority with a positive manner.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills required.

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Prefer some college.
