CPR for the Professional Rescuer

Purpose: To teach professional rescuers (those with a duty to act and provide care) the skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies.

Prerequisites: None

Learning Objectives

Learn the role of the professional rescuer in the EMS system;

Understand how the Emergency Action Principles when providing emergency care for a victim; and

Learn how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies.

Length: Approximately 7 hours, 50 minutes

Certification Requirements:

Attend and participate in all course sessions;

Demonstrate competency in all required skills listed on the skills checklist;

Participate in all skills sessions; and

Pass the final exam with a score of 80 percent or better.

Certificate Issued and Validity Period: CPR for the Professional Rescuer – 1 year
